Rod’s Auto Tech Team Scholarship was created in 2025 by the Rod Rhoden Foundation to carry forward Rod Rhoden’s commitment to expanding opportunities within the automotive industry. The scholarship supports students of all ages who are pursuing automotive technology certificates or associate degree programs at Metropolitan Community College, including graduates of the MCC Career Academy.

This investment strengthens career pathways into automotive technology while helping address the growing demand for skilled technicians needed to service today’s increasingly complex, technology-driven vehicles.

Mr. Rhoden emphasizes the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and the business community to deliver programs that are relevant and aligned with the needs of the modern automotive workforce. He cited the strength of MCC’s automotive programs, along with their high student employment rates, as key factors in establishing the scholarship. The MCC Automotive Training Center on the South Omaha Campus is recognized as one of the top automotive training facilities in the nation.

Rod’s Auto Tech Team Scholarship provides critical support that helps students successfully complete their automotive programs of study. This scholarship expands opportunities for current and future students by removing financial barriers to education, opening doors to strong employment opportunities across the region, and supplying the automotive industry with a steady pipeline of skilled workers.

Rod’s Auto Tech Team Scholarship is open to eligible students who are currently enrolled or planning to enroll in MCC Automotive Technology programs. To qualify, students must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average, attend classes regularly, and be residents of Nebraska.

Scholarships are usually offered during the spring and fall quarters. Scholarship availability varies depending on donor giving.
