Veterans & Military Resource Center

A Dedicated Space for Military-Connected Students 

The Veterans & Military Resource Center (VMRC) is a must-see space for all MCC military-connected students. All VMRC services and resources are available for Veterans, active duty, Guard and Reserve and their family members. The Center serves as a connector to College functions and teams along with Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Defense (DoD), state and community resources to help ensure your success at MCC and in meeting life and career goals.

The Center is a military-connected only space to meet and network with others who have similar experiences. Services include:

  • Educational planning and academic and tutoring support
  • Information on VA, DoD, and state benefits
  • Assistance with College and community resources
  • On-site VA, VA hospital, state, and Veterans Service Office representatives
  • VA Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership (VITAL) Counselor
  • Programming and events specifically for military-connected students
  • Student Veterans Organization
  • Quiet spaces, private study rooms and computer lab
  • Massage chair to relax and decompress
  • Complimentary coffee and other refreshments

The VMRC is located at the MCC South Omaha Campus, Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) Building, Room 101.

Hours of operation are: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The VITAL program is a collaboration between MCC, the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) and state and local agencies to ensure our military-connected students get the tools they need to succeed. Along with counseling and advocacy services for students, VITAL can also assist with:

  • Veterans Affairs (VA) health care enrollment and information
  • VA Vocational Rehabilitation referral and coordination
  • VA health care appointment and services coordination
  • Connecting with VA health care providers and VBA personnel
  • Referrals to on-campus, local, state and county services for Veterans
  • Consult and support regarding issues impacting academic performance and retention

To distinguish and recognize Veteran and military students, MCC is proud to present eligible graduates with a red, white and blue honor cord. Eligible students can pick up their honor cords when checking in for the graduation ceremony. In addition to the honor cord, students’ Veteran or military status will be recognized during the ceremony. If not attending the graduation ceremony, students can stop by the Veterans and Military Resource Center to obtain their honor cord.

Are you interested in helping other Veterans and military-connected students achieve educational success? As a VMRC student worker, you have an opportunity to guide and help fellow students on their MCC journey. Student Workers are part-time temporary school employees. Students do not need to be using VA education benefits or Federal Financial Aid to apply for a position. To learn more, contact the VMRC or call 531-622- 4770.
