Measuring and celebrating our sustainability progress
External recognition helps MCC benchmark its sustainability progress against national standards and celebrate the work of students, faculty, staff and community partners who make it possible. The recognitions below reflect our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility, social equity and responsible resource use.
Sustainability Rating
The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) is the most widely recognized sustainability rating framework for colleges and universities. It evaluates institutions across academics, operations and planning and administration.
MCC completed its third STARS submission in 2021 and earned a Bronze rating — recognizing measurable progress across all evaluated categories. MCC has participated in STARS since 2016 and continues to use the framework to guide goal-setting and track improvement over time.
