Architectural Design Technology

Overview

The Architectural Design Technology (ARCH) program prepares students for careers across the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry by developing strong technical, digital, and professional skills. Students learn to create, interpret, and manage drawings, models, and building information using industry-standard technologies, while building foundational knowledge of building materials and assemblies, building systems, and regulatory requirements. Coursework emphasizes problem-solving, interdisciplinary coordination, and the practical application of architectural and engineering principles.

Through hands-on lab experiences and collaborative, project-based learning, students apply classroom concepts to real-world scenarios that reflect contemporary AEC workflows. Graduates are prepared to contribute effectively as architectural and architectural engineering design technicians in the offices of architects, engineers, contractors, and other building industry professionals.

Students interested in becoming licensed architects or engineers need additional education beyond MCC. Students seeking to work in the AEC industry as technicians can do so without a license.
