Medical Assisting Application and Admissions Process
Metropolitan Community College’s Medical Assisting program offers both the Certificate of Achievement and Associate Degree options, designed to give students the knowledge and skills to provide administrative and clinical support to health care employers, including hospitals and physicians’ offices.
Medical assistants may be called upon to provide clinical assistance in everything from obtaining a patients’ history and assessing vital signs, venipuncture, and assisting with minor surgeries and medical procedures. In addition, medical assistants may be asked to perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, ordering supplies, and training new hires.
Upon completion of the Medical Assisting program, students are eligible to sit for an exam that provides educational credentials and increases earning potential.
